The Great VS2008 Migration

Well, we have decided to take the plunge and migrate our projects to VS2008 over at WhiteBlox.  One of the cool things about working in a small software shop is that you have the freedom to make decisions like this, without 16 layers of management and risk analysis.  It's simply a good product, I have been using it with no issues for about a month, I've upgraded about a dozen solutions, and all I have found is joy.

One driving force for the move is to kick nHibernate.  We decided to try it when we concieved of this project, but it is somewhat off putting, and people just don't like using it.  I for one like the concept of ORM, but I just didn't warm up to this particular implimentation.  Instead, we are going to use Linq for SQL, I have found some good ways to incorporate it into an n-tier project, and do so while using the provider model(sorta) as well.  It's not perfect, but it will do for now, and I have high hopes for the technology in general.  Plus there is a ton of Linq fot SQL specific documentation, sample code, and professional training vids out there.

I'll add my own docs and vids to the collection in the next couple of days, showing how I got the n-tier/provider thing going.
