McCain is Out of Touch

Watched the debates last night, and something really clicked which has me a little off edge.  McCain and Obama were going on about health care, Obama spoke of his grandmother dying in the hospital and arguing with insurance companies.  McCain had no such story.  Why?  Because his Grandfather was an Admiral, his Father was an Admiral, they always had healthcare without strings.  As for McCain, he went from being a navy brat, to being in the navy, to being in congress.  He's never had private health insurance in his life.  How can someone espouse a solution to a problem they have never experienced, and be more credible than someone who has lived the problem?

I never go to the doctor, or the E.R.  It just doesn't happen, well, at least until this past February.  Had a pain in my gut, felt like I had an arrow sticking out of my side, bouncing around whenever I moved, so off to the E.R. I go, company insurance in hand, wanting to get fixed up.  Within 2 months of the visit, I had no fewer than 8 different entities within the hospital billing me, the bills were confusing, they contained info on what was paid by ins, discounted, pending and due.....I'm a pretty smart guy, and alot of it made no sense to me.  I got billed by the guy who operated the ultrasound, the guy who owned the ultrasound, the hospital, the doctors, the nurse, the lab, the x-ray guy...what the fuck?!?  Could you imagine being billed by the guy who poured your soda, the cup supplier, and the guy who owned the slurpie machine if you got a drink at a 7-11?

To top it all off, someone I never heard of now has a $255 bill of mine sitting with a collection agency.  Don't know who they are, or if they ever even bothered to bill me before it went off to collections, so I have to deal with this mess on top of everything else.  John McCain has no fucking idea what any of this is like, none.  He waves a card and gets taken care of, so where does he along saying he knows our pain and has a solution?  I honestly had no idea that all of this billing mess existed before I experienced it, and to be honest, I think it will be a LOOONG time before I go to the E.R. again....but maybe that's the point.
